Adulting at Walt Disney World

One of my very favorite things about Walt Disney World is that no matter your age, you can feel like a kid again. Whether it’s seeing your beloved characters come to life, enjoying the rides, or just gazing in wonder at a beautiful castle, it’s easy to feel the magic of childhood return. As a matter of fact, my favorite t-shirt to wear for my travels to Orlando says “I’m done adulting, let’s go to Disney!”

However, Walt Disney World is also home to some incredible experiences that are aimed at those who may have a few more years under their belts, but can still be kids at heart! Here are a few of my favorites:

Private Fireworks Cruise

Why stand shoulder-to-shoulder in masses of people to view the nighttime spectaculars at Magic Kingdom or Epcot? Book a private Fireworks Cruise from one of the Seven Seas Lagoon or Bay Lake marinas and enjoy the fireworks in private, from the water, with the synchronized audio onboard. Each cruise includes assorted snacks and soft drinks, and you can even request festive banners or balloons for the celebration. Your captain will sail around the lagoon prior to the show, pointing out interesting facts about the history of the area, before parking in the perfect spot for that exclusive view. What an incredible end to a magical day!

Golf

Walt Disney World is home to three fantastic 18 hole courses and one 9 hole course. While I don’t golf myself, I enjoy a nice ride along in the cart to experience the beauty of these courses, and according to my husband, they are very fun to play as well! It’s a nice way to get away from the hustle and bustle of the parks and relax.

Drawn to Life – a Cirque du Soleil show

Disney Springs, the shopping and dining district in Walt Disney World, has so many offerings, but I want to focus on the exclusive Cirque du Soleil show, “Drawn to Life”. This show was written specifically for performance at Walt Disney World, and tells the story of the daughter of a Walt Disney animator and how she journeys through his works. The show really is a love letter to the art of Disney animation.

La Cava Experience

Hidden in the pyramid in the Mexico pavilion of Epcot, you’ll find La Cava del Tequila, a tequila bar boasting more than 200 tequilas, top-shelf cocktails, Mexican beer, and wine. That enough is worth a visit, but for a very special event, book the La Cava Experience. You and a maximum of 13 other guests will share a tasting experience you will never forget, showcasing some of the finest tequilas and agave spirits in the world. A certified Tequila Ambassador will guide you through a selection of rare and unique spirits, pairing with a flavor meant to enhance the experience.

These are just a few of the outstanding experiences for those wanting a more “adult” vacation at Walt Disney World – but don’t forget to let your inner kid see all the magic as well! Be sure to email me at tripsbyruthie@gmail.com so I can help you book your perfect Walt Disney World vacation, along with some great “adulting” experiences!
